Painting, Booth 540
I am a still life painter first and foremost, I do paint landscapes on occasion but my first love is still life. I would label my work as abstract realism. On the surface painting a still life is painting objects in front of you but it’s much more than that, things like using colour to create form, brush strokes, value, composition and capturing light as well as edges; this is where the magic happens. My work is based on working with shapes, values, colour relationships and composition, and although my work is still representational, the objects I paint are secondary to these relationships.
