Dragan Sekaric Shex

Painting, Booth 206

Dragan Sekaric Shex is a versatile Toronto based artist. With a degree in Architecture, he studied in Rome the sfumato technique of painting which later became his signature style. With this "smoky" style he renders memories and desires of real situations in life. Umbrellas in his Magical Realism paintings, which this soft style creates, express the artist's desire to protect his fellow human being exposed to increasing hardships and separations characteristic of our times. Shex is equally known for his vibrant abstract paintings full of instinctive energy and harmony created out of chromatic chaos. In his figurative paintings he is inspired by The Little Prince, but this fall he created a number of "portraits" inspired by the story and ballet of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker.  This is Shex's attempt to switch the focus from inanimate objects to human beings and bright children, as well as the magical dimension of life. Dragan Sekaric Shex has shown his work internationally and has earned multiple awards.
