Heather J. A. Thomson
Printmaking, Untapped, Booth U-7
Based in printmaking and drawing, Heather's practice amalgamates her passion for history and a desire to use a visual language. Her pieces are a culmination of research and visual study that adhere to a central question or concept. Heather received a BA from the University of Guelph in 2017 and was awarded the 2017-2018 Don Phillips Scholarship at Open Studio, Toronto. She is currently a Printmaking & Publications Class Assistant at OCAD University. Papiermarks are an ongoing interest for Heather. She feels discussions of Hyperinflation Germany focus on statistics and disregard the physicality of the period's currency. By creating Papiermark pieces and presenting them as art objects, Heather hopes the banknotes can move beyond their statistical value.
