Mixed Media, Untapped, Booth U-16
Kendra Yee is a Toronto-based artist, designer, and curator. Her work consists of mixed-media paintings, ceramic sculptures, and panel-based illustrations. Yee pulls tales from her personal history, lived experiences and collective memory to form speculative worlds where fluid characters come to life through the conversations of interactive bodies. She has collaborated with both local and international art based organizations. Some of her clientele include: The AGO, Toronto Public Library, OCAD U, TIFF, The Drake Hotel, and Razorbill Publishing. She has exhibited at: Xpace Culture Centre, Patel Gallery, The Letter Bet (Montreal), Chromatic (Montreal), and recently exhibited at Juxtaprojects, an offsite gallery space in collaboration with Juxtapoz Magazine (NYC). She is a recipient of the emerging artist grant provided through the TAC and was also awarded funding through ArtReach to initiate the program, Speech Project. In September 2020, she will be an artist in residency at the Maria A. Shchuka branch, working with community members to develop an anthology of visual narratives surrounding personal identity.
