Mary McLorn Valle
Painting, Booth 513
Mary McLorn Valle’s oil paintings of flowers are not soft or sweet. Her work is graphic and bold, it exudes joyful energy and explores themes of renewal and contained energy that is unfolding. She is inspired to capture nature as it bends, explodes, shines and fades. Her dynamic use of colour and perspective demonstrate a modern take on this usually traditional subject. Mary further explores colour systematically in her "This Times That" grids and brushstroke studies. Mary grew up in rural Ontario with parents that were visual artists. She resides in Toronto and has work in many private and corporate collections. She received undergraduate degrees from Western and Queens and holds an MFA from the University of Regina.
