The Walking Mushroom – Joyce Hye-Inn Shin
ZINES, Booth Z-3
My work consists of pieces that take on various forms, from zine to lithograph. They range in subject, medium, and format, but they're unified in their illustrative quality, subtle palette, and whimsy. I view my art as an extension of my inner life. The physical works I create emanate from the overflow of my internal life. This autobiographical element is a constant theme, pervasive even in seemingly unrelated projects. Secondly, my art is concerned with the imaginary. Growing up as an only child, I revelled in my imagination to keep myself entertained. My environment was cultivated a love for the fantastical and unseen. I’m particularly drawn to ambiguous spaces where real world meets fantasy and the two fuse together seamlessly.
