Tonya Hart, Halo Series, 2019
"The Halo series" takes inspiration from the natural occurring halo phenomena in nature. Halos form when ice crystals are captured in cirrus or cirrostratus clouds and align to act like prisms. The refracted light forms a ring of white light or is dispersed into a spectrum of colors. As an artist I create many light-based sculptures and became interested in the luminesce of halos. I chose colored acrylic to portray halos for its ability to filter color and light and the near endless color-combinations that are available. Each artwork is mounted on a 30 x 30 x 2” white gallery panel and fitted with LED fixtures in warm light (3000K) that connects to regular outlet and is fully certified.
